Obedience Pills: ADHD and the Medicalization of Childhood Every day across this great land of ours, children are swallowing pills for something called “Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.” Once upon a time, the mass drugging of children was the subject of spirited debate, but that controversy seems for the most part to have died down. The goal of this book is to re-ignite that controversy.

“An outstanding and painstakingly researched treatise on ADHD… It should be in every pediatrician’s office and in every graduate student’s library.”
Michelle Barrett, M. Ed., Founder, Del Dios Counseling Services

“A must-read for anyone currently living with a diagnosis of ADHD.” Bruce Cohen, University of Auckland

Dr. Roger McFillin interviews Patrick Hahn:

The kids are not alright. Millions of children continue to be dangerously drugged under the label “ADHD.” And the numbers continue to rise. How did we get here? n his latest book, Patrick D Hahn has documented the history and evolution of this diagnosis and the lack of evidence for any long-term benefits.

Drugs Given to Suppress the Childish Behavior of Children

July 25, 2022 by Samizdat Health Leave a Comment

I just finished Obedience Pills by Patrick Hahn.  It is a very comprehensive, very readable account of the invention of ADHD and the total lack of any scientific support for the drugs given to suppress childish behavior by children. And how the diagnosis and drugs absolve parents and the other adults in their children’s lives from responsibility for raising them, as well as teaching the diagnosed they are not responsible for their behavior.  There is much more, and Obedience Pills has a lot of commonsense as well as being meticulously supported.

Shocking… A Must-Read for Anyone with ADHD

April 30, 2022 by Samizdat Health Leave a Comment

“Obedience Pills recounts the shocking story of psychiatry’s abandonment of scientific evidence in favor of professional power and profit. As expertly discussed here by Patrick Hahn, the bizarre transition from some musings on youth morality in the nineteenth century to the current drugging of millions of kids with highly dangerous substances for a non-existent condition would be almost laughable if it wasn’t so utterly tragic and devastating for so many young people and their families. A must-read for anyone currently living with or considering a diagnosis of ‘ADHD’.”

Bruce Cohen, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Auckland and author of Psychiatric Hegemony
